Another storm, another lost somebody. A very weather beaten, but otherwise uninjured, petrel got plucked off the road, at nearly 1am this morning, and wrapped in a towel after I spotted it whilst driving. As it was just me, I had a bit of trouble trying to keep it still on my lap and drive at the same time, but I got it home and settled into a carry cage for the night. Took it to the vets later that morning, where it was checked over and crop-fed while it waited for a lift to Kuaotunu Bird Rescue.
